Shouldn't Realtors be required to hire another Realtor to represent them?
I've just had the most unfortunate experience with an Owner Agent. Most of our communications were very professional. But when there might be a slight adversity, the other agent would become the Seller. It was like she had two very different personalities.
This Seller/Agent had purchased the property in January in a foreclosure. Now I'll be the first to say, they did an incredible job with most of the upgrades. The Buyer fell in love the first time they saw it. After seeing the tax record the husband was a little more hesitant. The price was now double what they had payed for it.
The Home Inspection revealed a few things but nothing to run from. The Buyers made their repair requests. Very reasonable, in my opinion. The agent/Seller had a meltdown! We finally negotiated the repairs and headed toward a successful closing. Upon final inspection, not all the repairs had been completed. And the grass was knee high.
What's this agent thinking? Had she hired a Realtor, the Realtor would have made sure that our final walk through was a positive experience.
Instead, we have yet another family that thinks that Realtors are greedy, make too much money, and can't be trusted.
