My Chicago Husband is now a Wimpy Nashvillian!
Fifteen years ago my husband took early retirement and fulfilled a promise to bring me back to Nashville. He liked the area and liked the climate. Our first winter was rather mild but there was a day that we got a half of an inch of snow. The weathermen had predicted more and the schools were closed. I worked from home and remember well overhearing his conversation with an old friend in Chicago MAKING FUN OF US! Can you imagine!
Well 15 years later, he's worse than I ever was. Yesterday they predicted that it would start this afternoon between 2 and 3pm and that we would get 1 to 2 inches. He fretted about whether I should take Sweet Pea to Pup Scouts or if she should just stay home. I convinced him that it would be fine and I'd leave the office at the first sign of snow or rain and get her and bring us both home.
At noon today he called to tell me he was going to get her. Well, sorry dear, I paid for a whole day for her to play with her friends and was not cutting it short because he was worried about the weather.
"No Dear", I said. "I'll pick her up". I promised to leave the office by 2 or sooner if it started doing anything. I ran out to do an errand around 1 and it was misting pretty well. Then I saw a few snow flakes. I finished my errand returned to the office and got my laptop. I had blogs to write, after all.
I picked Sweet Pea up at Pup Scouts at 2 and headed to the pharmacy and to pick up some wine. Can't get snowed in without wine. It's 2:30 by now. I come out of the store and my phone has a frantic message about getting home!
Geez, it hadn't even started sticking yet.
