Zooperbowl Sunday February 5, 2012 at the Nashville Zoo!

Long before the Super Bowl starts on Sunday evening, there's time to take the whole family to the Nashville Zoo for some air and exercise!This annual event allows the family, especially the kids, to get some great time together before everyone parks in front of the TV for the evening.

To encourage you, the zoo is offering half price tickets for everyone, all day Sunday February 5, 2012.

2012 Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville

Nashville offers the largest show of Antiques, combined with Garden, in the nation! Enjoy this great show February 10-12 at the Nashville Convention Center.

The Antiques and Garden Show has over 150 booths of Antiques and Horticulture booths, along with actual Landscaped Gardens. The show offers lectures by national and international experts in their fields of Antiques and Gardens. The Antiques and Garden show, in it's 22nd year, will provide the opportunity to see spectacular gardens and view or purchase beautiful Antiques.

Friday and Saturday 10am to 7pm

Why is my Smart Phone so much smarter than Me?

Technology, you can love it and you can absolutely hate it!

Saturday my cell phone went on the blink. Totally black, no picture, nothing. Sunday the screen re-appeared.

Not taking any chances I went to the Sprint store and got a new phone so they could transfer my data.

I'll be the first to admit, my phone had seen better days but I've really been fighting the Smart Phone. I don't think I want everything at my fingertips ALL the time.

I like quiet time with my husband. He likes it when I pay attention to him and am not texting or worse, talking non-stop on the phone.

The guy at Sprint convinces me to go ahead and get a Smart phone. Against my better judgment. I agreed.

I now have a New Smart phone.  I know how to call out. I know how to answer incoming calls, and I know how to send and receive text messages.

What I can NOT do, is pick up voice messages. It won't let me set it up. I have messages I can't get!

I haven't set up email.

I'm still trying to figure out the ringer.

Why do I need a special degree to use this phone?

Meet 'n 3 Friday February 3, 2012 at Nashville Farmers Market!

What's a Meet 'n 3 you ask?I'll tell you that it's NOT that Southern Meat 'n 3 eatery where you pick out some piece of meat and 3 side dishes!

No, this is where you get to Meet Local Artists, Local Food Trucks and listen to Local Music all at the Nashville Farmers Market!

There will be over 20 Local Artists and Crafters selling everything from Photography, Fine Art, Sculpture, Jewelry, Furniture and More. All produced locally. Then choose from 10 of your favorite Food Trucks or sample a little from all of them.

Lightening 100, Nashville's Independent Radio will be there along with other local artists and bands.

It's going to be a great evening.

There has been some complaining about the new look of ActiveRain lately. Complaints about the speed to load pages and pictures. Some people can't find their statistics or their point breakdown.

I just want to know what is it with this new notice that appears on most pages I  go to.

The page still works but you get the impression that something is missing or you've done something wrong. I mean, really, what does "Sorry, that content is protected" mean anyway?

Franklin Art Crawl Friday Feb 3, 2012

This coming Friday is the next Franklin Art Crawl. It's always the first Friday of each month from 6 to 9pm in Downtown Franklin. The Trolley will be available all evening for unlimited rides for a $5 fee. In addition to the wonderful Art Galleries and Studios you will see, there will be live music and refreshments!

When did we become so Attached to our Tech Toys?

This morning I woke up to find my Cell phone dark. Turned off, I thought. I tried to turn it on and a funny looking screen appeared. It wouldn't do anything. Nothing. Nada. So I tried to turn it off to try turning it on again. Now it won't turn off either.

Oh well, I'll deal with it later, I thought. I had an 8am run with Team Rio. We're training for the half marathon. It's Saturday, I have nothing planned but lunch with my husband. We run 8 miles, meet back at the running store to shop (10% of all sales today went to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle TN - that's who Team Rio supports).

As I was leaving, close to 10:30, I bumped into a client who I hadn't seen in several years. Do you see where this is going? It was almost noon before I used my husband's phone to check my messages!

Yikes! 3 Messages.

I have a home with a "Coming Soon" sign on it. It's not in the MLS. An agent called at 8:30 to show it at 10am.

Even if my phone was working, it would have been in my car. I don't carry it when I run. I was apologetic, when I returner her call. But then I thought Hmmmm.

The house isn't on the market. It's not like they're supposed to be ready at all times. The sellers are probably not quite ready to show it. So an hour an a half notice? Really?

Just a little Rant.

I hate being so dependent on my cell phone. I'll get a new one tomorrow.

Trust

One word with lots of impact for only 5 letters.

Where does it start? At birth? Aren't we born with a trustful nature? I just ran over to the contest post to make sure I knew the rules and I noticed the baby being tossed in the air.

Have you ever seen a baby NOT like being tossed like that? They Know, without doubt, that you're going to catch them. It's the purest form of trust that I can think of.

What causes us to not trust? Is that too much of a blanket statement? Is Trust All or nothing? I can't imagine going through life trusting nothing. 

Recently an incident here in the Rain created a huge conversation about trust. It involved someone we ALL knew and probably trusted. When the facts were made known to me I thought about them for a day or two.

Then, I went to my list of subscriptions and unsubscribed myself. I didn't see any need to keep reading someone who was now on my "not to be trusted" list. Such a small thing that really had no bearing on my life. We were just blogging friends. It didn't hurt me personally, but it was about being truthful.

I grew up in a home where being untruthful was 100% unacceptable. Because of that, it has always been my deepest desire for my clients to know that they can trust me. They can count on me to do what I say I'll do and to tell them from my heart what I think, when they ask.

I want them to be able to tell their friends, and hopefully future referrals, that they can trust me to put their interests above all others. That they're in good hands!

It IS how we're suppose to do business anyway.

Does that mean you can say whatever you want in the comments of MY post?

This week I did a short localism post about the Circus Coming to Town. Seemed harmless enough. Good family fun.

It's the first time I've gotten several comments or emails from people outside of AR about a post. One left a nice comment. One emailed me that I had and incorrect fact, which I promptly fixed.

Then, the next morning there was another email from someone who does not support any Circus that has Elephants as part of their entertainment. This person wrote a very lengthy email with several links to stories or videos to backup her position.

I emailed her and thanked her for emailing my privately and told her that I appreciated her not blasting me in the comment section. I then told her that I had not yet decided what I would do with the post.

I did NOT tell her that I was actually thinking of taking it down or Updating it after I followed her links and verified the information she sent.

She responded nicely and I thought we were good.

Then late yesterday she popped in to the post and left her hate message twice.

I'm not saying she didn't have valid points about Elephants being abused. I really was going to check it out and act accordingly.

But she didn't give me time.

What would you have done?
