Freddie Mac said on Thursday that the average interest rate on a 30 year mortgage was just 4.63%. That's down from 4.7% the week before! 15 year Mortgages were down to 3.82%. The Feds are hoping the low mortgage rates will boost the sluggish housing market.
Lower interest rates allow you to purchase more house for the same house payment, or to have a lower payment on what you're already planning on buying.
