Using Video to Market Yourself and Your Listings
I don't know if you do this or not, but I sometimes keep magazines for several years before I get to them. Realtor Magazine is one of them. They mail it to me at the office, where I never have time to read and it ultimately ends up in a pile to go home with me.
From there it goes to the basket beside MY CHAIR. My chair is a special place. This is where I drink my coffee, read the newspaper - usually a day late, do my Bible study and read other things I need to read. It's my place. I'm usually alone and I can think.
OK, OK what does this have to do with Video? Last week I picked up one of the older Realtor magazines to read and get rid of. There was an article that I tore out about using video that I wanted to save and read again. I just finished reading it and looked at the date it was published. July 2008. TWO WHOLE years ago!
At that time, July 2008, they quoted comScore's Video Metrix Web tracking service who said that in March 2008 Americans viewed almost 11.5 Billion videos on the Internet. That was a 64% increase over 2007. YouTube had almost 31,000 Real Estate postings by May 2008. I looked up what comScore had to say about video in 2010. This is what they said: in March 2010 180 million Americans watched over 31.2 Billion videos. 41.8% of those videos were viewed at one of Google's sites, that includes YouTube.
Internet videos went from 11.5 Billion in March of 2008 to over 31.2 Billion in March of 2010. That's a 270% increase! Real Estate videos increased the same amount. It's time to get on this band wagon! I challeng you all to begin using video to market your listings. I plan to start a series of tutorials on preparing your house for sale.
