Using Links in Your Blog Posts

Using Links in Your Blog Posts a Short Tutorial Using Links

Like many of you, I read many blog posts here in the Rain. One thing I often see, especially with Newbies, is that the writer will reference another AR member or a post but will not link to them. I've decided it's because they just don't know how. So this quick tutorial is you!

Linking Words or Pictures in your Blog Posts

It's quite simple. I'll use an old post of my own as an example:

Using Pictures to Enhance your Blog.

Using Links

Go to the person's profile, or their blog post, that you're referencing. Once  there, you want to copy the URL of that location. If you click on the URL, it should Highlight the entire URL then right click your mouse and select "Copy". Using Links

Now, Highlight the words you want to link. Left Click at the front of the word and drag your mouse across the words.

Using Links

When you do this, the "Chain" in the bar will activate. Using Links

Click on the "Chain" and a new box will appear. You'll want to click in the "Link URL Box" and then Right click your mouse. Choose "Paste" and the URL will be copied into the box.

You'll want to give it a Title that is relevant to where the link goes. Then click insert.

This works the same way if you want to link a picture. You will click on the picture, it will activate the "Chain" then follow the same steps and the picture will link to whatever you've decided. This is especially easy to link to YouTube!
