Do Not Call Registry for your Cell Phones!
There has been a lot of talk recently about Cell phone numbers being released to Telemarketers. With more than 30% of people without Land Lines, this is the next big group for them to target. You can now call the Federal Government's "Do Not Call Registry". That number is 1-888-382-1222.
Though this is available, it is not as scary as you think. There have been many reports that you do NOT need to register your numbers because the numbers HAVE NOT been released.
However, for those of you who live by the "just in case" theory the following will let you register anyway:
Be sure to call from the phone you're wanting to register. Call from all of your phones, even those you think that you've registered in the past. The call is easy. They will ask you to press 1 for English and then to press 1 again if you want to register your phone. Then just type in the number you're calling from and your done!
It takes 31 days before they are no longer able to call you. After that, if you get a solicitation call, get the company name and then file a complaint at DoNotCall.gov.
Simple as that!
You can check other sites for more information on this topic. Like I said before IT'S NOT AS SCARY AS YOU THINK!

Hi Connie...Great Suggestions, you can register you number on a Do Not Call in Canada too. I still get calls from people in fact the phone company doing a Question about are you happy with their service then swing into all the latest bells and whistles they have for you..then saying they can only offer the Extras etc etc on this call. How do you Block your own service provider?
Great post Connie, though I haven't had any solicitors on my cell yet, I am sure it is only a matter of time.
Fred - if only we could! Sprint calls me occasionally and it drives me nuts. LOL
Mike - The links say that it really isn't a problem. I resgistered anyway!
I get calls all the time from solicitors wanting to sell me the opportunity to get on page one of Google. It ticks them off when I tell them I can do it by myself.......in fact, they usually argue about it like I'm lying to them. Wonder if it will work on these guys?
Connie Thanks for the reminder - I've been putting it off
I don't register my numbers because I think that telemarketers need jobs, too. If everyone was on the Do Not Call registry, then look at all the unemployed telemarketers. Unemployment figures would be up. Etc.
Connie - Great reminder and tips of the DNCR. Thanks for sharing.
Ann - I get the same calls. Daily as a matter of fact! I hope you made it to Camp in NYC!
Karen - Happy New Year and let's make this one a record year!
Russell - very thoughtful. I guess I didn't think of it like that. Problem is, they usually call at the worst time. I am nice to them I admit but... LOL
Kenneth - That's what we do! Sharing. :)
Connie, that is just what I need. I am so-o-o-o tired of being spammed...
