Nashville TN Flood of 2010 -Distruction Everywhere

Nashville TN Flood

This morning I finally ventured over to Bellevue to check on a vacant listing. There had been talk that condos in River Plantation had flooded. I was not prepared for what I saw. There was street after street with trucks lining them. The yards were full of debris pulled from the condominiums. Everything west of Sawyer Brown Road had been under water. When I turned onto the road I knew disaster was waiting for me.

Every unit on this street got 4 to 5 feet of river water. These properties did not have flood insurance because they were not "in the flood zone".

The Widow in the unit next door had to be evacuated by boat. Her car was totally covered by the water. She lost EVERYTHING.

There is no phone service in most of Bellevue. Many roads are still closed and under water. Power is off throughout the area and Cell phone service is kind of hit and miss. You can see the water lines here in the carport. Floor is solid mud.

There is no telling when these lives will get back to normal. If you didn't see NBC's report, here it is on youtube.

I had no idea how bad the flooding really was until I seen it on the news yesterday.

I will be sure to keep them in my prayers. I can't imagine what they are going through.

from what I have seen over the years its no such thing as not living in a flood zone anymore these

floods are reaching new heights and new areas.

I hope they can proceed to a speedy and safe recovery.

Yionada - My sister in New Jersey emailed me this morning with "what's going on down there???" People really don't know how bad it is.

Hi Connie, unfortunately the same was true for here after Floyd hit in '96.  Rocky Mount was devastated and not much help headed that way for way too long.  I hope that you are ok...  let us know if what we can do.

Connie, What a disaster! Hard to fathom 3 months of rainfall in 48 hours along with tornados. Keep us posted.

I can't believe the media has not been following this. I am following it on Facebook through my sons News In Nashville twitter feed he set up there.

Oh he passed his State Test yesterday, so excited.

Pamela - My senior year in college Hurricane Frederick hit Mobile. We were without power for over 3 weeks. It's amazing what destruction can take place and yet life goes on everywhere else.

Margaret - By Sunday afternoon I was so tired of the Deluge that I couldn't watch any more. Then, Monday we wake up to a brilliant sunny day. Of course I didn't have to look at distroyed homes around me.

Missy - I saw the National news for the first time last night and they had a brief story of one familie's loss.

If there IS any such thing as a speedy recovery, we are hoping for it for Nashville. It's really heart breaking to hear of the people flooded, but with no flood insurance, they are out everything. Sad that your insurance will not cover you for the very thing you insure yourself for....catastrophe! Don't even get me started!

Thinking of you!

I am trying to pull together 2 weeks worth of help this summer.  I found that there are a TON of companies offering discounts and Grants if you will put in GREEN materials!
