Active Adult Communities in Nashville TN area- Maury County
Maury County boasts 2 very nice Active Adult Communities.
Wyndham Park, located in Columbia TN, is an 82 unit complex that was started in the spring of 2002. There are still 5 units available to purchase new.
Built by Rochford Company from Nashville, these one level homes were available in 7 different 2 or 3 bedroom, 2 bath floor plans. They have large living rooms and formal dining for family gatherings. The stepless entries to the garage and patio area plus extra wide hallways make them ready as homeowners age and need more assistance in the home.
The Condos in this Active Adult Community run from the mid $140's to the Upper $160's for the newer models.
There is a walking trail that connects to the YMCA on Oak Springs Drive allowing homeowners with easy access to the fitness facility and their educational programs. The Maury County Senior Center is just up the road and Wyndham Park is just a couple minutes to the downtown square and all shopping.
Active Adult Communities offer an easy lifestyle with low exterior home maintenance for those 55 years old and older. At some point you just reach the age that you want to enjoy your hobbies, your family, and your friends. The last thing you want to think about is mowing the grass!
These neighborhoods both have condominium type ownership of cottage style homes. The Homeowners monthly fees generally cover the exterior maintenance and lawn care.
The Westview Community is located just 3 blocks from downtown Spring Hill, TN. Just over 10 minutes to Franklin and 15-20 minutes to Cool Springs. The name Westview comes from the first public school in Spring Hill. At some point the Dalton family acquired the property. Effie Dalton Heisee grew up there and raised a family there.
She had a vision of a Community for Adults over 50. She wanted a place for where people could "age in place" with folks like themselves. The Townhomes of Westview are built with this in mind.
There are typically two units to a building. Each property is a single level plan with one or two car garages. The construction is the very popular hardie plank, stone or brick. The patios out back are separated with a privacy fence.
If you are thinking of Retiring in Nashville TN, there are many reasons why this is a great idea! First, the weather is considered to be mild, mid '80s in the summer months and mid 40's in the winter. There are no state income taxes in Tennessee and property taxes tend to be lower than other parts of the country. The cost of living is said to be in the lower 10% of the nation.

Great to see a hyperlocal post get featured, Connie! Very nicely done! We've started doing this recently for the condo complexes in our market, too...now we know what they should look like!
Sounds like a very nice place to settle into.....Connie..and well presented too....
Great local interest piece. Is there a precise definition for "Active Adult"? No matter, this looks like a terrific place to live - active or not.
I agree looks very nice. We have several here as well. But I am over 55 and I do wish we could do away with saying Active Adult, since I have several friends with handicaps and to say "Active" makes them feel bad. In fact, our MLS will not let us use that word in listings. We can say 55+ etc, but active indicates more to many.
But so many use that phrase I am afraid it is here to stay unless HUD itself tells us to stop using it. Again, no insult meant at all concerning this development. Looks beautiful. You are quite right, many of us above (and below) 55 are ready to toss the lawnmowers and just enjoy life. Just felt the need to point out the active term.
I work in the Sun Cities in Arizona as well as live there. Wyndham Park and The Westview Community sound like nice communities. Might be a nice place to have a summer home. I will keep them in mind
Connie, congrats on the feature. I'm always happy to see our beautiful area get the attention it deserves. Excellent information to those looking to move into units with less exterior maintenance.
Pat and Wayne - Thank you. I recently started a series on Active Adult Communities in our area.
Richie - The local builders are making retirement more and more attractive!
Michael - Because these are not "assisted living" communities but one must be over 55 to live there, someone coined the "active adult" name. There is no top age, you're just still very capable of living alone and having an active life!
John - I sure see your point and 55+ seems adequate!
Roberta - You're in the place that started all of this! I did a little study on Del Webb and how all the "active adult communities" idea got started!
Tammie - Thanks! There are so many great places to live in our area!
We are very familiar with all the 55+ here on Long Island, and like learning about the same type of communities outside our Long Island NY area. We like the way you describe these retirement neighborhoods!

Connie:
Some of these adult communities are so beautiful and inviting. Wyndham Park and Westville seem to fit well into this mold. My nephew lives in Tennessee and absolutely loves it there.
Thanks and let me echo the congratulations on getting a local post featured - well done!
Connie, these are some nice looking communities. We've always enjoyed our visits to the Nashville area.
Connie That is a very professional presentation of active adult commmunities in Nashville and Maury County
Connie, Congratulations on the feature!!! I am familiar with Westview but not the other...
Larry and Shelia- I'm seeing more and more people retire to Middle Tennessee instead of Florida because of the taxes AND we don't get hurricanes! I'm sure you get those that want to have the "vacation lifestyle" of Long Island but don't want to leave NYC area. Not that I blame them!
Claudette - what makes these 2 communities unique is that they are in very small towns. Quiet I should say!
Peggy - Thank you. I was a little surprised when I saw it this morning. Always love having another star! LOL
Michael - I moved to Nashville twice, on purpose. Love it here! We'll need to have an AR coffee gettogether on your next visit!
Karen - I learned from the best! That would be you, of course. :)
Michael - I've been on a mission to learn about as many of these communities as I can find. My next post in this group is in Sumner County. A lot going on up there!
Erica - That's what we're here for! Can't wait to read it!
Well I am thinking of retireing...sorta maybe someday to Nashville, both of these look great. There is also one in Mt. Juliet at Providence that is very nice. But....is there one on the lake anywhere....gotta have a lake.
I'll find you the lake Missy! It'll be great fun. I actually could tell you of a pretty neat place on the lake. It's not officially an Active Adult Community but most of the residents would qualify. And it's gated with their own private boatdock!
Connie! LOVE the fact that you did it in a larger font! THAT was super!
Eleanor - I decided that the person that would be reading this might prefer the larger font! I even like it better!
