5th Annual Cereal Drive for the Tennessee Baptist Childrens Home!
Tuesday September 28th the homeowners of Bradford Hills and Holt Woods subdivisions have been asked to put out boxes of cereal that will be collected for the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home. A team of volunteers will canvas the neighborhoods helping Connie Harvey to gather the boxes of cereal and deliver them to the Children at the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home on Franklin Road.
The TBCH is a non-for-profit organization of homes that help children and families in crisis through residential care. Founded in 1891, TBCH has 6 locations across the state that help hundreds of children in crisis. Much of the food for the homes comes from Second Harvest Food Bank.
Needless to say, cereal, a mainstay of kids' breakfast is always in short supply at Second Harvest.
Several year ago, Connie Harvey and other agents from the office of Prudential Woodmont Realty Group began volunteering at the Children's Home in Brentwood. They would take dinner and desert on a Friday night to serve the kids and thus give the houseparents a night off! Through this service, friendships formed and needs were brought to their attention. 5 years ago, Connie and a few friends organized the first Cereal Drive. It was such a huge success, that they have done it every year since.
Each location has a wish list on the website for those who want to donate. Items include linens, paper products, toiletries batteries and cleaning products!
