Life at Christmastime

Life at Christmastime
Christmas in Nashville
Today someone forwarded the standard funny email with the dos and don'ts for eating during the holiday season. It was cute and it was funny, but the quote at the end was worth repeating:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one and and wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO What a ride!""

Sometimes we're just too serious and full of ourselves. I exercise and watch what I eat, but sometimes you just need to relax and enjoy the moment and the people you're with. This Christmas time eat the things that someone has lovingly made for you. A little butter and cream will not kill you.

So true.  Everyone needs to relax once in awhile.  Enjoy the holidays.

You are so correct - time with those you love, tasting the delicious treats they carefully baked and made, what's not to love? You can diet and get back on track in January!

I love this saying!!  Now I have something to think about every time I eat a holiday cookie so that I won't feel guilty about it!

Cindy - I plan to take several days off this Christmas season. We don't have family here so it'll be very quiet this year.

Carla - My thoughts exactly! Besides, I want to cook some of those things too.

Joyce - Enjoy!!! I've waited to eat only the things that are really special so that I'd enjoy them more. Don't want to waste calories on mediocre or store bought! LOL

Amen! For heaven's sake, just relax and pig out for the day. Barely eating , saying you are dieting, after a ton of time and effort was spent fixing a great holiday meal, is not cool. Jill.

Connie - I like it, enjoy your life, but make it meaningful too. Whether taking the thrill ride or something more sedate, enjoy.

Jill - Not Cool is exactly right! I've tucked a few goodies to the side for when I start indulging!

Mike - Yes indeed. Since chocolate and wine are up on the top of my favorites list... LOL

It's a good thing it won't kill me, because I fully intend to indulge!  In fact, I've already gotten started with the holiday goodies!

Connie, I'm with you!  I have to really be careful or I could easily be chubby.  However, it's Christmas.  Allergic to Chocolate, my favorite dessert is Key Lime Pie.  A dear friend, knowing that, brought one over last night.  Homemade and absolutely delicious.  I had a generous piece for dessert and then this morning I decided that Key Lime Pie is the perfect breakfast.  Yummy!

NO GUILT!

Hi Connie--I do not have your discipline, but the number one item I will be working on this year!!  All things in moderation seems to be a very good rule to follow!  Happy New Year Connie!!

Pat - It's yet to be seen if I have this discipline! The January 31 day challenge will be my test! Happy New Year Pat!
