A Truck full of Supplies Headed to Athens Alabama today Friday May 6th, Please Help if you Can!Tornadoes Athens Alabama

Nicki Conlon, of Brentwood, sent out this plea earlier this week but we're just seeing it. It's not too late to help the People in Alabama affected by these terrible storms!

Tornadoes Athens Alabama

Her brother and sister-in-law are members of a church called Lindsay Lane Baptist Church in Athens, Alabama. This Church has been feeding 3 meals a day to family affected by the storms.

They are also making sandwiches and delivering to the people who are working in the disaster areas just a mile away. They have plenty of food but are in need of other supplies.

These are the items that have been asked for:

Flat packing boxes and packing tape

All sizes and gender of New Underwear Cleaning Supplies

Diapers, Wipes and Fomula

If you can donate any of these things, they can be delivered to either

Nicki Conlon at 9047 Lochmere Ct. Brentwood, TN

Or to Gina Burnette at 9445 Chenoweth Place, Brentwood TN 37027. They will see that the items are delivered.

Nicki will also be staying to help with the food, for anyone who would like to volunteer their time.

Connie, there is a lady I met with recently who lives in Athens and sorta, kinda, maybe, might move to Birmingham because her grandchildren are here.  I've not been able to get in touch with her yet.  I sure hope she is okay!

This is a great localism post, Connie. I'm sure there are lots of folks who will be reading it.

Connie...the children's department at our church, the Potter's House is getting backpacks for Bama together for the children that have been affected by the tornados. They've asked that when we go shopping we take our children with us to help us make the purchases so that they will feel like they are part of this ministry.

Ann - I hope she's ok too. Tornadoes are terrible.

Toni - I know we have many Churches in Middle Tennessee that will be sending people. Unfortunately, I left for Cleveland this morning and I won't be able to help.

Kim - What a great idea. I love teaching children about why its important to help others.

Connie, I tried to reach her again yesterday.  She's really a sweet lady and I don't think she's the type to avoid me if she's changed her mind about moving.  I'm worried about her.

So you guys are moving Dad this weekend?

That's so great that you're spreading the word and these people are right there helping at ground level.

Ann - Hopefully the phone lines are just down in her area. You know that happens in storms. Yes, Tomorrow is the big day. Yesterday I went through all of his clothes sorting them and writing his name in them. Went through 2 sharpies!

Georgina - Alabama is just an hour away so all of the areas are really close to us. It's easy to help, and impossible not to!
