5 Ideas for Using Pinterest for Real Estate
For those of you who don't know about Pinterest, it's the newest, latest Social
Networking site based on sharing things you like. It's a place where you can "Pin" things you like. It's like putting them on a Bulletin Board, but for others to see.

It's by invitation only right now, but you can actually go to the site and ask for an Invite.
Once you set up your account, you have about 6 "Boards" with popular titles given to you. Things like Recipes, Favorite Places, Things I Love, For the Home, and Books worth Reading. You can change the names of these and you can add more boards. My friend Mimi Foster has 37 Boards that she's created to pin things about things that are important to her!
This is what a typical Board looks like.
5 Ideas for Using Pinterest for Real Estate:
1. Set up a Board where you pin your Blog Posts. Pin a Picture from the post and then make sure that each Blog Pin is linked back to your blog. Set up the board using SEO friendly words.
2. When working with a Buyer who is looking at homes that need Updating, you can create a board of say, Kitchens, that you can then send them ideas via Facebook about what you've pinned for them.
3. Be a Neighborhood Expert. Pin information about a neighborhood and things that are near it. Remember SEO friendly descriptions.
4. Create a Fun Things to Do board for your City. Some people will follow just a board, others will follow you completely.
5. Just like Facebook and your Blog, don't make it all about Business. Let people get to know you by pinning on Boards that show people what you're interested in.

I'm have to check out pinterest. Your pointers help. Keep it local and don't make it about real estate.
Thank you for the tips. I will check it out.
Hi Connie ~ thanks for your helfpul ideas about using Pinterest in promoting your business. Although I signed up for an account there, I've yet to post anything .. but it's definitely on my To Do list!
Debbie - Everything in moderation! :)
Gita - Good luck with it.
Maureen - It was on mine to so I took the class Thursday and I'm going to start working on it this week.
Hi Connie. AR takes up an hour a day. Where do you find the time for all this stuff?
Cheryl - It's just another way for people to follow your blog.
Kim - Thanks for checking back. Yep. I need to get busy with it too. Today is catchup on paperwork. This week Pinterest.
Conrad - I don't know how people get any work done.
With your path finding experience I just might get it and then make the time (one small step a time) becaue there is no time to make it happen. Great suggestions. Are you using an iphone to upload as a time saver?
Connie,
these are all really great ideas. I'm really interested in number 1. I may have to have you talk me through how to pin it back to me. I really like that one.
Emily - I have an iPhone but I don't know how to use it. I haven't hooked up the email part yet.
Cindy - I'm going to practice it today. Will let you know how it works.

Thank you for these suggestions. Joined P about a month ago but haven't done much with it yet. Do you really feel it will help with getting clients? Read a lot of comments here about many people leaving the site due to some copyright issue and others not to enthralled with it. cheers cvc
Curtis - Let's start with the copywrite. They changed something in their terms that is suppose to eliminate that problem. Do I think that I'll get more clients? I have no idea. I'm going to devote 1 hour each week working on it. That's all.
I love Pinterest and the negative hype bothers me. I am glad that you display the positive side of Pinterest. There will always the few that abuse something.
Susanna - My understanding is that they've changed the Terms of use and corrected some of the problems.
Well I think it might be the next best thing in social media, as long as we dont get sued for copyright issues.
Great tips for using Pinterest! I have been teaching agents how to use Pinterest for their business and I really like your idea for doing the board on things to do in your town!
Paul - I still haven't used it very much. Just not enough time.
Carolyn - It was a great idea. Now I need to put it into action!
